‘Sly’ Stallone is set to breathe new life into his grizzly Vietnam veteran in the latest instalment of the hit franchise in Rambo 5, according to reports. Stallone is said to be confident the eponymous franchise still has promise despite its recent struggles, reports. The 71-year-old superstar actor has committed to playing John Rambo for the last time in the movie, however he will not direct it. That duty looks likely to go to his Expendables collaborator Avi Lerner.

The first Rambo film, First Blood, was released in 1982 and was a world wide hit, earning more than US$125 million (A$166 million). Stallone burst onto screens starring as John Rambo, a former Green Beret who is kicked out of the small town of Hope, Washington by Sheriff Will Teasle (Brian Dennehy). He returns and is arrested before fleeing into nearby woods resulting in a massive manhut.

According to Sarah and Michael, the Burmese military has planted land mines all along the roads leading into the tribe's village, making it virtually impossible to reach the tribe via land.
